We took a drive out to Smith Rock State Park this afternoon to do some recon for a possible full moon photo tomorrow. I wanted to find out where the moon was going to come up so I could find the position for the best shots.

There were some high clouds and we never did see the moon rise, but it was a beautiful day and in the end we were treated to one of the mot beautiful sunsets I have seen in a while.

Smith Rock is a great place for hiking and rock climbing. I think I’m going to have to spend more time out there next summer.

Love your photos – I am very partial to sunsets / sunrises, so these truly touched my heart. Thanks for sharing!
Smith Rock State Park (the panorama) is wonderful and I admit I am drawn to it because it has the format of some early photography. Combined with the color, and drama it becomes more surreal. Maralee, I admire your guts taking on such-bigger-than life imagery.
Some of these photos almost look like oil paintings. Great content and majestic colors. Nature is a fantastic subject. Good work.
Wow! And on the seventh day…..
