Wildfire season had an early start on the high desert yesterday with the Cougar Butte wildfire. This is the earliest wildfire I’ve seen since we moved here 16 years ago. They haven’t stated the cause of the fire yet, but being that we had a lot of snow this year, a cool, wet spring, and no lightning storms in the area, my bet is that it was human caused.

Sad if it is a deliberate fire……I know wild fires can at the right time and place be a help to the eco system but vandalism doesn’t help. Spring is now starting to turn to summer over here in the UK. The year moves on đŸ™‚
I’m hoping it wasn’t deliberate. They’ve been doing some controlled burns in the area recently so its possible that some sparks blew away with the wind.
I’ve never understood the attraction of lighting fires. And when you see the devastation wild-fires cause, what sort of moron would risk causing that. Stay safe.
We don’t know yet what caused it. We’ll have to wait until they finish investigating.
Wildfires are frightening especially when deliberately set– how awful. It does make for interesting and colorful sunsets.
It does make for beautiful sunsets (and sunrises). We’ll have to wait to see if they can find out how it started.
Spectacularly but a little scary.
Summers here are always a little scary because it gets hot and very dry. Most fires are caused by lightning strikes.
Some humans just like to see things burn… We’ve reached that season and are on the lookout everyday. ..
I’m hoping they find it wasn’t human caused. We’ll have to wait until they investigate.
I thought you lived up north. Where I live is called the high desert, too.
I do live up north. I’m in central Oregon just east of the Cascades.
That’s what I thought. Funny, I don’t think of there being other areas called high desert. đŸ™‚
I hit like, but you know I don’t . . .
