This weekend is the annual Balloons Over Bend event. I always enjoy watching the balloons take off . . . even if it means getting up at 5:30 a.m. and braving the morning chill. This year they launched from a different location than they have in the past so I wasn’t able to take and photos of it along the river. It was a beautiful morning for a launch.

One of the few things I have never done…it was bad enough having to jump out of a perfectly good plane just so we would know how if it ever crashed I’m not going to get on a hot air balloon cause I am afraid of heights. LOL
Jumping out of a plane is not on my bucket list . . . ever. But I wouldn’t mind going up in a hot air balloon. I don’t like heights either but for some reason, a balloon ride appeals to me.
jumping out of plane was part of my job but I had to get pushed to do it…LOL but since I can choose to go up in the air balloon I’m not doing it. LOL
beautiful shots. Don’t know if they have them here. I’ll have to settle for outrigger racing. In August, I think. That would probably bring back some memories for you.
I don’t remember ever seeing hot air balloons in Hawaii. I think there’s too much wind. I did enjoy the outrigger canoe racing . . . mostly because I was in the canoe. 🙂
I don’t think it’s that it’s windy as much as chasers would have to follow by boat, and it would have to be sea landings. I imagine it would be tough folding and rolling up the balloon on even a slight shop.
The Starburst images are spectacular, and the balloons are gorgeous! The O’Dark Thirty wake up is worth it if you don’t have drive too far.
I’d have to arrive a day ahead for the nearest one to me, and to date I’ve not been free to do it. Though I’ve longed to. One day I hope to cross it off my Bucket List.
Totally great images Maralee! I wish I was with you!
Thanks so much. Fortunately it was very close to home. As the crow flies, it was about 1/2 mile. But since I’m not a crow, it was about 3 miles. Sill, very close. :-).
Oh you’re so lucky! That is close.
