Flying back home from Seattle to Bend, there was a blanket of smoke covering the ground throughout Washington and Oregon. Some of the higher elevations poked through the smoke.
We are surrounded by fires here. The closest is about 60 miles away, but no matter what direction the wind is blowing, we are getting the smoke. I hope we get some snow pack this winter. We didn’t have any last year.
I hit ‘like’ for the photos and not what they represent.

The images are beautiful; almost like paintings, but I feel so sad about the reality behind them.
Thanks, Su. We have wildfires every year, but this year it was especially dry.
I guess they only make it to our news when they are particularly bad, and that’s what we see and remember.
Wow such beautiful photos!
Thank you.
Beauty from a bad situation. Glad you documented this, Maralee.
Thank you, Jane. I’m hoping we get some rain soon to bring some relief to the fires.
Fantastic shots Maralee
Thank you, David.
Eerie looking at your photos knowing it is all smoke. Our smoke in the Portland area has finally left. Not good for you though.
When I flew from Seattle to Bend, there was a blanket of smoke the entire way.
Pretty graphic and impressive shot of what’s going on below. Nice capture.
Thank you, Gunta.
Great pictures of a serious situation.
Thank you. We’re hoping to get some rain soon to bring some relief to the fires.
I hope that you do.
