My thistle plants are about 5′ tall right now and starting to go to seed. But a few are still flowering and the bees are still coming around. Fall is on its way . . . it was 34 degrees this morning. Brrrr.

Nice photos, but the title is misleading as that is a fly.
:-0. As you can tell, I don’t know my insects very well. What kind of fly is it that imitates the colors of a bee or wasp?

There are also a few European varieties (one gave me a heck of a time tracking it down).
I have never seen a fly that looked like a bee either. I thought something like that was a wasp. Nice pics.

Thanks. This is my favorite time of the year. The nights are quite cool but the days are still in the 70’s and 80’s. Love it!!
