My peony has been progressing slowly. I posted a photo a few weeks ago when it was still a tight little ball (here). This past week it started opening and once it got going, it didn’t take long for it to be in full bloom.
The peony was one of my mom’s favorite flowers so whenever I see it, I think of her.

A dear neighbor gave me a couple of starts from her peonies. They are such lush and beautiful flowers. What a sweet way to remember your mom.
Thanks, Gunta. They are beautiful flowers but they don’t last very long. Mine are already finished for the year.

That’s what makes flowers so interesting. If they were the same all year, a garden would lose all its interest. But peonies are very short lived, I agree.
