On Wednesday I took the dirt trail up to the top of the butte. It’s a little steeper but slightly shorter, too. It was a cloudy day but the clouds gave a little drama to the scene.
The only 4 legged animals I worry about on the butte are dogs. Although they spotted a cougar or two in the butte several years ago. I think they were just passing through as none have been seen in recent years.
I often walk alone but it is a very popular place to walk so there are usually many other people around. And I usually go during the day when most people are around. I’d probably have second thoughts about walking very early morning by myself.
Liked your shots from that incredible hike. I was sidetracked by Disperser’s link to the Cougar site. I remember the 1994 vote to outlaw hunting them with dogs. We had just moved here the previous August. My previous house was surrounded by miles of tree farms and there were occasional cougar sightings. Funny thing was when my best friend from Boston visited and she was scared to death of being attacked by a cougar. We teased her a bit until we realized she was truly freaked. 🙂
Beautiful trail!
That does look like a very nice walk. Do you worry about animals (four legged)?

Hmm . . . we have lots of cougars here, and they are rarely seen.
Hopefully you walk with other people.
It sounds like the current Oregon population is near 6,000

I wonder what is lurking behind the bend on that path. *smile
