This photo is just for fun. We had this little visitor at our door last night and my cat was trying to figure out what it was. I’m just glad I had already changed out the summer screen doors for the winter glass doors.

The world as I see it
What happened them 🙂 This was amazing. Thanks and Love, nia
They had a short stare-down and then the skunk walked off.
This made me smile :-). Looks like a standoff. It’s funny because we also had a visitor yesterday although our visitor was not a skunk. It was a young cat ;-). Hope that you are having a great day.
I was more afraid of me startling the skunk than the cat. But he just looked at us and then walked off. I think they are beautiful.
Is this what I think it is.??.. a skunk.?? Don’t they shoot off the most unpleasant of smells.?? “Cat get out of there” this must be its smelly cousin…
It is a skunk . . . and a pretty big one at that. I think they were just curious about each other. The skunk didn’t do anything – just ran off after a bit.
I have read about these and fortunately we don’t get anything like that here… but I do believe the smell is very difficult to get off you if sprayed, is that right,??
None of my pets (or me) have ever been sprayed but I know people whose dogs have been sprayed. It is a very distasteful smell and difficult to get off. From what I understand, its sort of oily and needs a lot of soap to get the smell off. We’ve had them spray in the neighborhood and the smell will wake me up at night because it’s so strong. We had one spray under our house one time and I had to wash all the clothes in my closet to get rid of the lingering smell.
Oh noooo!
I hope the skunk did not do, what he could have done!? The poor cat!
The cat was inside the house with a door in between. The skunk didn’t spray . . . it ran off after a bit. 🙂
I did not see the glass door… Lucky you – this could have been a disaster! 😉
Hoo boy . . .
Thank goodness for the door. 🙂
What a very interesting encounter to catch on “film’ (so to speak). Glad you weren’t subjected to the lovely aroma.
I wasn’t on that particular night . . . but last night I heard a noise outside and there were two big skunks fighting by our front porch. One sprayed. I couldn’t sleep last night because of the smell. I hope it’s gone by the time I get home from work today.
Oh horrors! That has to be the worst imaginable smell. I’ve never been really close to it, but it’s bad enough at a distance. Hoping it fades fast!
With their glands removed, I hear they make excellent pets.
. . . but then, who wouldn’t?
I’ve heard of people having descented skunks as pets. They sure are cute.
Yikes!
I know.
