A crossing gets very chaotic with wildebeest jumping in the water, landing on each other, and going as fast as they can to get to the other side. I'm surprised we didn't see more injuries than we did.
More of the wildebeest crossing. Another name for the wildebeest is a "gnu." But then you probably already "gnu" that. Not that funny, I guess.
Photographs do not give justice to the witnessing of a wildebeest crossing. With photographs you can't hear the cacophony of the wildebeest calling or the splashing of the water. There is an excitement that builds watching the animals prepare to cross and once that first wildebeest makes a move, they all rush to the river …
For me, the most exciting wildebeest crossing was the fourth one. The river was running fast and the action was intense. I took a lot of photos - too many for one post. So here is the first group.
