Composite No. 1

One of my goals this year is to activate the creativity neurons in my brain a little more.  Owl compositeI’ve seen some beautiful photo composites and want to start doing some composites. This photo is a composite of three different photos I’ve taken in the past. I love owls and wanted to give this composite a dark, eerie feel.

    1. It really isn’t that difficult. The difficult part, for me, is figuring out how I want to compose it. When I do compositions I tend to go to the “dark side” rather than the bright, colorful side. I don’t know why that is because I’m really a happy, upbeat, “colorful” person. So I don’t know why I’m drawn to the dark side.

      1. Interesting.. When you start on creating a composite do you shoot several different scenes knowing how you want the end product to look? Maybe you really do like the feel of a dark and moody photograph. I am an upbeat type of person too but I always find myself drawn to dark and moody forms of art.

    2. For these, I just took elements that I like – owls, trees and the moon. I have a fascination with birds so I will probably be including birds in a lot of my composites as I do them. They take a little time and sometimes I have to sit on them for several days to let them ferment in my brain for a bit. When I start I don’t have a definite idea in my brain – just some thoughts. We’ll see where it takes me.

      1. Well thanks for sharing. I am going to watch some Youtube videos over the next few days to see how to create one in photoshop. I enjoy looking at them but sadly I really have no idea how to create one in photoshop. Hope to change that soon,

  1. Maralee, this is just so magical … I can’t find an other word for it. You have found a something now – that you can take to more and more exciting levels. Just wonderful.

I'd love to hear from you
