As much as possible, I like to buy locally grown produce. Farmer Brown’s Market is about 2 miles from my house (1 mile as the crow flies) but it feels like you’re out in the country.
This time of year they have numerous types of apples, pears and squashes. I thought these squashes looked very interesting.

I belong to a local CSA and they occasionally throw in an odd looking gourd like the ones you posted. I never know what to do with them, other than as decorative things for Halloween. Buying and eating local and in season is the best! Can’t beat it for taste and health.
You are lucky to have such an outlet so close to home.
