Day 120 – Visitors in my Garden

It has been a very busy weekend and I haven’t had much opportunity to get out and take photos.  Today, I was cutting back weeds and plants in our “lunar bin” area and had a couple of visitors.  One was a covey of quail and the other was our neighbors cat who was enjoying the catnip.

In the quail photo, you can see how the chicks and hens have pretty much taken over the place.  But they add color to an otherwise dreary landscape, so I’m glad they are growing so well.

  1. I love visitors of all kind. Problem is they run or fly away when I go to my backyard. Glad you captured these photos to share with us.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  2. Wow, your quail are colorful. The ones we have around here are a drab brown. I suppose that gives them better camouflage from the hawks. It’s quite interesting how the different populations have evolved!

    1. I think it’s only the males that have color. If you look at the two on the right, they’re pretty plain. It may have just been the way the sun was hitting the one. There was another one in my neighbor’s yard that had some color that I tried to capture, but it flew into the tree as soon as I started looking at it.

  3. The Quail – what a lucky fellow .. he has two girlfriends. *smile – what a wonderful bird. Love that blue on his chest. Today is photo day for me .. will talk away with the camera a little later, when then sun isn’t that bright. Great shots – again.

I'd love to hear from you
