I just returned from a two-week trip to Hawaii. I picked the perfect time to go – it was 80 degrees in Hawaii and sub-zero temperatures at home. I took well over 2,000 photos and it will take me some time to go through them all. In the meantime, I’ll share a few that I took with my iPhone.

Maralee

I was doing regular posts during my trip to Florida using photos from the phone. I’m contemplating rethinking photography in terms of general (phone), and hobby (camera). I lugged around all my lenses and camera, and ultimately it was not the place to take many “hobby” photographs. I could have just brought my camera and my 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, and combined with the phone camera it would have been fine. (that would not have been the case a few years ago).
Hawaii is another matter . . .
Next trip I will take a little less. I brought 2 camera bodies and 3 lenses. I only used the 2nd body a few times and one lens I didn’t use at all. My “go to” lens was my 18-200. It covered just about everything I needed to photograph.
Wow, I will dream of Hawaii all day 🙂 Annie
Thanks, Annie. This time of year it’s a nice dream.
Such beautiful light 🙂
Thank you, Inga.
I’m so jealous!!! Hawaii is high on my bucket list.
I think you must go some time. But when you go, be sure to get off Oahu for a few days. The neighbor islands are much more like “real” Hawaii. Oahu is pretty busy and congested.
Ahhhh! That’s just it. What island would I want to fly to? I have no idea which is which.

They are each unique. Maui is probably my favorite. Kauai is gorgeous, very laid back, and if you want quite, that’s the place to go. The Big Island (Hawaii) is large and very diverse. You can ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon. Although if you’re going to ski, you have to walk up the hill – no ski lifts :-). But people still do it. I don’t think you can go wrong no matter which island you go to.
Thanks a lot!
You are going to have a lot of envious readers. Wow 2000 photos!
This one is a beauty.
Thanks, Wendy. It’s going to take me a loooooong time to get through all the photos. I could probably do a Hawaii 365 project. 🙂
What a gorgeous view! Beautiful shot 🙂
Thank you, Robyn.
I am eager to see the other 1999.
They’ll be coming . . . a little at a time.
I agree! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the image. Must have been a shock to return to 30 degree tempretures! Looks like you had a wonderful and relaxing trip.
When we got off the plane here it was -2 degrees. That was quite a shock to the system. It’s been improving since we got back and we’re now back to more normal temperatures.
Yikes!!!!!!!! I say YIKES again lol… This is good to know because now I know I should not plan a trip to your state from November – March lol.
Actually, or winters are generally pretty mild. In the 14 years that I have lived here, there was only one time when the temperature went below 0 and that was about 12 years ago. This was an exceptional event. The cold blast lasted several days. Fortunately I wasn’t here for most of them. 🙂
Love this.
